>PROJECT INFORMATION
In 2010, The Mountain View Buddhist Temple embarked on a long-term campus improvement plan. CAW began a campus feasibility study to investigate existing facilities for building fire / life safety, structural integrity, and site accessibility issues, as well as their ability to meet the current and future needs of the Temple community. We then began phase one of the Temple’s Campus Improvements, addressing two buildings – the ‘YBA Hall’ and ‘The Hondo’ – which were graded ‘unacceptable’ in seismic performance and also required upgrades for accessible code compliance. In addition, campus improvements created accessible routes to the buildings, added accessible parking and restrooms, replaced interior and exterior finishes, and upgraded building systems equipment to meet modern standards and codes.
CAW implemented a new interior plan with a full restroom redesign to meet ADA and other code requirements, implemented substantial improvements to the building frame to meet seismic codes, replaced finishes in all interior spaces, added new mechanical systems, and upgraded the existing kitchen to meet modern commercial standards. We also added 1,300 square feet to expand and relocate the temple’s columbarium.
