CAW was hired to design new classrooms and play yard at their Arboretum Childcare Facility which were slated for demolition in order to make way for a new parking garage at Stanford Hospital. Due to parent concerns about the proximity of entire Arboretum facility to the very active construction zone, Stanford hospital decided to build a temporary child care facility to house all classrooms on Stock Farm to serve as their facility during the parking garage construction. The project had to move quickly because parent opposition was holding up progress of the renewal masterplan for the entire hospital. We worked with the County to get a compressed planning submittal phase, and the building permit phase was started concurrently with planning and a permit was obtained within 3 months.
Construction was then completed in five months, and licensing was obtained the day after the final occupancy permit was obtained. The 10,560 SF facility, consisting of 6 modular buildings with 10 classrooms and administration space, was opened on schedule.
